Teachers

Teachers

The children are looked after by qualified teachers and additional staff, which insures that each child can be individually supervised. The English-speaking children can maintain and extend their English knowledge and naturally integrate with German children, whereas the German children get the chance to learn the English language, which is also trained by special language activities.

Maridel

After completing my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2008, I worked for one year as a kindergarten teacher with children aged 3-6 years old. In order to improve myself professionally, I pursued a master’s degree in English Language Teaching with units in Early Childhood Education from 2009 to 2013 while working as an ESL (English as a Second Language) Teacher in the Philippines. In 2017 after working for 3 years in Dubai, I got married and moved to Munich in which most of my 2 years before working at Upsy Daisy in March 2020 were spent studying German language and immersing myself in German life and culture. It has been my dream to work with children since I was young. I believe that each child has distinct intelligences innate in himself/herself and it is the the role of the teacher to guide and help them nurture those. Furthermore, children are the future of our society and so next to playful and creative design of education, righteousness and fairness as well as imparting of knowledge and values to the children are particularly important to me.

I started as the English Teacher here at Upsy Daisy in June 2021. Originally, I’m from Houston, Texas but moved to Virginia in 2009 to attend Sweet Briar College. Since graduating college seven years ago with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, I have worked in a variety of educational settings, allowing me to develop an assortment of valuable skills. I began working in China for Aston, an English training school, with students of all ages and abilities. After spending a year at one of the company’s smaller schools, I was offered the Senior Teacher/Teacher Trainer position at Aston 4 in Xi’an. Along with building lasting relationships with my students, I often communicated with parents about their childs’ progress and development as well as observing the classes of other teachers, providing them with feedback, constructive criticism and assisting them in writing age appropriate lesson plans. As an older sister of five, I have been around children my entire life and each new experience allows my passion of working with these children to grow.
